An advertising idea from the mind of Bruce Baker who worked for Quaker Oats. Promoted on the popular 1950s radio show Sergeant Preston of the Yukon that Quaker Oats sponsored. The "deeds" giving away a square inch of land in the Yukon came in boxes of Quaker Puffed Rice and Puffed Wheat. Quaker Oats and the Canadian government receive numerous inquiries every year from folks wanting to know how much their square inch is worth. It's worth nothing. The 19 Yukon acres purchased by Quaker were repossessed by the Canadian government years ago for non-payment of $37.20 in taxes. But now you too can own this piece of advertising history - and fill in your name if you want.
